SHORTWAVE - REVIEWS

"INTERESTING. A bloke asks "If it all ends are you still my friends?" over a throbbing back-drop of pulsating noise that could only be made by a bunch of rock kids after listening to too much Kraftwerk late at night.
Building from nothing and piling on the beats, bleeps and riffs, Shortwave manage to marry technology with punk rock dynamics without ever once inspiring that oft-uttered phrase "a metal Chemical Brothers". Instead they owe just as much to the awkward sounds of early '80s no-marks like PiL, Gang of Four and The Fall - only these kids are newer, cooler and far messier. This we like."

"SINGLE OF THE YEAR"
Organart

"Through the heady mix of summer nights heat and booze come strutting on stage 3 sneering young sex bombs...they perform a scalding riot of punk disco and the crowd react wildly...I want to touch them, to know them, I want to be them."
Rock City Review

"Gaining much admiration for their powerful live sets and tipped by many for stardom."
The PRS A&R Guide

"With Steve on big red guitar abuse, vocals and stage presence, PK Ramone on bass and funk off and die psychotic glare and a drummer whose influences appear to be Keith Moon and Harry Ramsden (but not necessarily in that order)…they have a chemistry, not to mention a set of such incendiary firepower that it leaves you gagging for more….. As the late Mother Theresa once said "Come on you motherfuckers, lets rock!" And nobody is rockin' in Nottingham quite like Shortwave today. Go see, go buy, go man go."
John Haylock - City Lights

"This life saving, adrenaline injection to the heart, arrives under the title of "If it all ends". The new single from Shortwave, a band not lacking in attention grabbing material. They aren't so much a band as a revolution, and lord be praised! about time to, because although I'm pretty sure 8 years of unoriginality, banal tune writing, and corporate marketing men aren't an old testament style plague from the heavens, I'm not definite."
Capodastra Magazine

"Shortwave know they’re good and that’ll make them a band you’ll love or hate, but either way you’d be mad to stand in their way."
Kiss and Tell

"Utterly compelling and beautiful"
Raise Magazine

"Nothing to Offer is the best original song I've heard...in ten years."
City Lights

Shortwave have been together for 3.5 years now. They first met at Nottingham University and are Steve - Guitar, PK – Bass, Lance - Drums and Damien – moves. Their musical influences are more to do with booze and having fun. Steve added “Have you ever had a Burger King that gave you a panic attack?, I did!” This just about sums them up. Shortwave have always wanted to be popstars and they are about to release their E.P. “If It All Ends” which is an absolute mind blower.
Shortwave kick started the evening with some excellent tunes. This was one band full of interesting musical ideas. Their whole performance was an energy driven power ride of guitar thrashing, serious skin beating and some meaty bass lines. The music was very much that of punk rock with a drummer that foams at the mouth, a rather peculiar groovster ‘Damien’” and some refreshingly different tunes like “if it all Ends” and a favourite of mine "Wanker". This band reminded me of the Sex Pistols meets Blur/Super Furry Animals, this band will get far.
